The Story

Sagami Original 0.01 is the world's first commercially-released 0.01mm condom — Sagami pioneered the polyurethane ultra-thin category in 2013 and the Original 0.01 remains the reference product. Each box contains 5 individually wrapped condoms manufactured in Japan to JIS T 9111 standards.

At a glance

  • Best for: standard fit, ultra-thin sensation, latex sensitivity
  • Material: polyurethane (latex-free, no natural rubber proteins)
  • Thickness: 0.01mm uniform wall
  • Fit: standard, nominal width 36mm
  • Format: 5 condoms per box, individually sealed, lubricated
  • Best paired with: water-based lubricant. Compare with Okamoto 001 or the Sagami + Okamoto starter set

Why we stock Sagami Original 0.01

Sagami Original 0.01 has the best unit economics in the ultra-thin category — 5 condoms per box where Okamoto 001 ships 3 — while delivering the same 0.01mm polyurethane thickness. We carry it for two reasons: customers who want to try the ultra-thin experience without committing to a higher per-unit price, and long-time users who simply prefer the Sagami feel (slightly firmer ring at the base, slightly different lubricant). All stock is imported direct from Japan with full expiry dates of typically 4–5 years.

How to use

  1. Check the expiry and the foil seal on each individual sachet before use.
  2. Tear the sachet along the notched edge with hands only — not teeth, scissors, or jewellery.
  3. Pinch the tip to expel air, then unroll fully onto an erect penis before any contact.
  4. Use one condom per act, and dispose of it tied in tissue (do not flush).
  5. Lubricant: water- or silicone-based only. Polyurethane is degraded by oils — avoid massage oil, coconut oil, baby oil, and most lotions.

Important: condoms reduce but do not eliminate the risk of pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. Combine with regular STI testing and other contraception methods if appropriate.

Materials

  • Condom: medical-grade polyurethane, latex-free
  • Lubricant: silicone-based dimethicone
  • Free from: spermicide, latex proteins, fragrance

Sagami Original 0.01 vs Okamoto 001

The two flagship 0.01mm polyurethane condoms from Japan. Both use the same nominal thickness and material; the differences are subtle. Sagami Original 0.01 has a slightly firmer base ring and ships 5 per box. Okamoto 001 has a softer ring and ships 3 per box at a higher per-unit price. Many customers buy both via the starter set to compare. If you need a larger fit, see Okamoto 001 Large (38mm).

FAQ

Is this authentic Sagami from Japan? Yes. Every box ships in original Japanese-market packaging with intact tamper seals and Japanese-language labelling.

Is 0.01mm safe? Yes — polyurethane at 0.01mm meets JIS T 9111 and equivalent international standards. Every Sagami Original 0.01 is electronically tested before packaging. Polyurethane is actually stronger per unit thickness than latex.

Will it feel like nothing is there? Sagami's marketing claim is "as if you're not wearing one." Users typically describe it as a substantial step up from standard 0.04–0.06mm latex condoms, with notably better heat transfer.

Can I use this if I have a latex allergy? Yes — polyurethane contains no natural rubber latex proteins, which is exactly the trigger most latex-allergic users react to.

How should I store them? Cool dry place below 30°C. Avoid wallets, glove boxes and bathroom drawers where heat and humidity can degrade the foil and lubricant.
